RICHMOND, Va. — The Girls Academy U14 National Championship field has been narrowed to four after an exciting night of quarterfinal action in Richmond. City SC White, Lamorinda SC, SJEB FC, and Midwest United each arrived by a different path, but all now stand just two victories away from lifting the National Championship trophy.
The semifinal field reflects the competitive balance that has defined the U14 season, bringing together conference champions, the reigning Champions Cup champion, a first-year Girls Academy club, and one of the tournament’s biggest breakthrough teams.
City SC White delivered the evening’s most dominant performance, defeating Seacoast United 5-0 to continue one of the nation’s most impressive campaigns. The Southwest Conference champions have reached another national semifinal after finishing as Champions Cup runners-up earlier this spring and remain in pursuit of their first Girls Academy National Championship.
Lamorinda SC continued its outstanding postseason with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Northeast Conference champion NEFC Red. The reigning Champions Cup champion has consistently risen to the occasion on the biggest stage and now moves within two wins of adding a National Championship to an already remarkable season.
SJEB FC produced one of the night’s signature performances, defeating Mid-America Conference champion Indy Premier SC 3-0 to advance to the National Semifinals. The Mid-Atlantic North Division champions have quietly assembled one of the strongest postseason résumés in the field and now have an opportunity to continue their impressive championship run.
Meanwhile, Midwest United has authored one of the National Finals’ most compelling stories. In its first Girls Academy season, the club entered the postseason after a fourth-place finish in the Midwest East Division but has steadily built momentum with each round. That run continued Thursday night as Midwest United stunned previously unbeaten HTX 1-0 to reach the National Semifinals, proving that championship soccer is played in July-not October.
Friday’s semifinal matchups promise two outstanding contests. City SC White faces Midwest United in a meeting between an established national power and the tournament’s breakthrough club, while Lamorinda SC and SJEB FC square off in a battle between two teams that have elevated their play throughout the postseason.
With four deserving semifinalists remaining, the U14 National Championship race enters its final stage, where every match brings another opportunity to add a new chapter to Girls Academy history.
