RICHMOND, VA (July 10, 2025) — Some of the nation’s most elite youth soccer players gathered at River City Sportsplex this week for the highly anticipated Girls Academy National Talent ID event. The showcase brought together top athletes from across the country, offering them a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills on a national stage.
The three-day event featured standout players selected from each conference within the Girls Academy. Competing in the U14, U15, U16, and U17 age groups, athletes were placed on two teams per age group and participated in an intensive schedule that included a classroom education session, one high-level training session, a media day, and three competitive matches.
A key component of the event’s success was the leadership and expertise of the nine hand-selected coaches from across the Girls Academy. These experienced and respected leaders were chosen for their dedication to player development, their tactical knowledge, and their embodiment of the GA’s core values. Throughout the weekend, they worked closely with the athletes—guiding them through training sessions, match preparation, and in-game strategy—while also providing mentorship and insight to help elevate each player’s performance.
The event is more than just competition; it’s about development, exposure, and celebrating the hard work these players put in throughout the year.
The Talent ID format is designed not only to identify the next generation of national-level talent, but also to provide a platform for personal and athletic growth. Scouts, coaches, and league leaders were in attendance throughout the weekend, observing the players’ technical ability, tactical awareness, and team dynamics.
The event culminated in a marquee matchup, the National Select Talent ID Game, where the top performers from all age groups were selected to compete in one final game. The two all-star teams, composed of the best-of-the-best, provided a thrilling conclusion to a weekend full of competitive energy and high-caliber soccer.
The Girls Academy extends its sincere gratitude to Soccer.com and adidas for their continued support and sponsorship. Their partnership played a vital role in bringing the National Talent ID event to life and ensuring an exceptional experience for all participants. Their investment in the development and visibility of youth athletes is instrumental in shaping the future of the game.
The Girls Academy continues to lead the way in creating meaningful opportunities for young female athletes, and the National Talent ID event once again showcased the league’s commitment to excellence and player advancement.
